It is widely recognised that education and healthcare are two key ways to further the growth of developing economies, so we are delighted to support the expansion of an Australian online education specialist into south east Asia.
Our client specialises in educational programmes for healthcare professionals. Widely used in Australia, our client now wants to offer it in countries throughout south east Asia. Like the company’s other courses, the healthcare programme is led by trainers with industry experience. It also offers articulation pathways to leading Australian universities and employs Smartmoov technology that enables students to learn on the go, using mobile devices.
The move beyond Australia poses a number of challenges, though. Among them is the need to translate English-language source material into local languages. Then there is the issue of cultural adaptation. And finally there is the reality that beyond the major population centres, internet in countries like the Philippines, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia and China is often limited and slow.
The venture fund enables our client to expand its healthcare education offer to the new countries. At the same time, it takes Kylla into the impact investment field, something we think is great.
