During my internship at Kylla, I received the opportunity to attend a conference in London arranged by London School of Economics (LSE) which provided me with further insights into the alternative investment industry and useful knowledge that I carried with me for the remaining part of my internship.
The LSE alternative investment conference was founded back in 2005 by a group of students with the purpose of bringing together students and leaders within the alternative investment industry. The conference is held over a two day period with over 300 students and 40 industry representatives attending the event.
The speakers that attended this year included founders, CEOs, managing partners and other representatives from some of the largest alternative investment firms in the world. They shared their view on current market events, changing dynamics in the industry, the increasing importance of sustainability, and their personal journey that enabled them to reach the position they are in today.
To mention some of the key takeaways from the conference, the importance of high-quality investments is increasing as we are seemingly approaching a potential downturn in the economy. Several investors start to look at more opportunities in emerging markets and not surprisingly, sustainability is an inevitable topic.
Following the conference, I stayed an additional day in London to attend meetings together with my colleague Prianka Mahanty, our Director UK. Finishing the day by having a coffee at our office in Mayfair in a welcoming and even quite relaxing atmosphere was a wonderful end to my stay in London and I look forward to my next visit.
